I used a 10L collapsible water bag on a recent high desert traverse where the next established water source was eight miles away. One thing to note: these bags work best when partially supported. Hanging them from a carabiner loop works well. If you set a full 10L bag on bare ground and squeeze it, you might get some leakage at the seams if they’re stressed, but normal use—hanging or carrying in your pack—handles the weight fine.

These bags are designed for long-term reuse. The material doesn’t degrade in sunlight the way some ultralight bags do, and the construction handles freeze cycles.
